Autoclavability & UV resistance

UV resistance
HTL pipettes are designed to withstand numerous sterilizing cycles. All HTL pipettes can be sterilized with UV beams. Neither reproducibility nor durability of the components deteriorates even after intense and lengthy UV exposure.

Autoclavability
Most of HTL pipettes are resistant to autoclave sterilization. Single channel OPTIPETTE pipettes and LABMATE Soft pipettes are equipped with autoclavable shaft assays. All components (shafts, tip ejectors) of these pipettes which might come in contact with potentially hazardous liquids or vapors can be autoclaved at 121°C 100 kPa. It is just enough to unscrew the pipette shaft and put it with all inner components in to the autoclave. Disassembling of the pipette and autoclaving of the shaft assay does not require post assembly calibration.

The DISCOVERY PRO and DISCOVERY Comfort  pipettes are designed to be fully autoclavable. Effective autoclaving requires the user only to loosen the shaft nut and put the pipette as a whole to the autoclave. Unlike other pipettes claimed to be “fully autoclavable”, HTL pipettes do not require the calibration check after autoclaving. They would aspirate within declared range after autoclave sterilization without re-calibration. We recommend however that the random checks (every 10 cycles) are performed if the pipette is autoclaved frequently.

If your pipette needs sterilization please see the chapter: How can I sterilize my pipette? and Is my pipette UV resistant?
