Maintenance

HTL Pipettes do not require any special maintenance procedures. The clear technical design in combination with the proper choice of durable materials such as PVDF make HTL pipettes and pipetors long lasting instruments. HTL aims to provide the users with easy to handle pipettes of the highest safety standards. If the user follows the Instruction Manual and takes care of cleaning the pipette after working with aggressive materials, seeds and reagents it will function perfectly for years.

Here are some basic instructions to follow, which will make your pipette a safe and precise tool for your day by day activity:

  1. Do not use pipette without a tip.
  2. Do not invert the pipette while the tip is filled with liquid or wet.
  3. Always keep the pipettes in the stand after use.

Following the above recommendations will make cleaning and sterilization a regular, easy to do action rather than extraordinary, tiring and time-consuming effort.

Cleaning

External surfaces of the handgrip, the pipetting pushbutton, the ejector pushbutton, the shaft nut and the adjustment knob may be cleaned using a cloth dampened in isopropyl alcohol. The remaining parts removed from the pipette during pipette disassembly may be washed with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol

Sterilization

Applies to DISCOVERY+ Series Pipettes and CLINIPET+:
The pipette can be sterilized in the autoclave at 121°C for 20 minutes. After sterilization, the pipette should be dried and cooled to room temperature

It is recommended:

  • to sterilize the pipettes in autoclave with an initial vacuum and drying cycle,
  • prior to sterilization unscrew the shaft nut slightly in the DV2-DV1000 pipettes, and unscrew the shaft slightly in the DV5000 and DV10000. After autoclaving these parts should be screwed tight again. The precision of the results should not alter if the pipetting process and autoclaving are carried out as described in this manual. Because a slight change in the accuracy of the dosage may occur, it is recommended to:
  • check the calibration of the pipette after every 10 autoclaving cycles.

Applies to LAB MATE+ pipettes and V3 SERIES pipettes:
The shaft, shaft nut, ejector, piston assembly, seal and O-ring may be autoclaved at a temperature of 121°C for 20 minutes at pressure 0.1 MPa. The shaft of the 5000 and 10000 models should be autoclaved without the filter. The handle and the outside of the pipette may be cleaned using a cloth damped in isopropanol.

Warning

Replacing the piston requires recalibration of the pipette. We recommend that this work be conducted by HTL Authorized Service.
Before returning the pipette for service please make sure it is free from any chemicals, radioactive and microbiological contamination otherwise this might affect the security of people involved in transportation or service.
